Istra 1961 has confirmed the arrival of new coach Javier Cabello, who will lead the team in the HNL. Cabello brings rich experience from Spanish football, where he worked as a coordinator of Villarreal's academy and performed scouting duties. As a head coach, he led Cieza, Castellón, and Cultural Leonesa. The new Istra coach has experience in club management, having served as the technical director of Elche. Istra finished the season in sixth place in the HNL and missed out on European qualification. Cabello's task now is to continue developing the team, stabilize the locker room, and prepare the green and yellows for new challenges in the Croatian championship. Cabello will replace Krešimir Režić on the bench, whose contract expired at the end of May. Režić led the team for just one month, achieving two wins, one draw, and three losses in six games. The official presentation of the new coach will take place on Wednesday, June 10, at 12:00, and sports director Saša Bjelanović will also attend the press conference.
